Traditional Hardware

NEW FINISH SEPTEMBER 2009! Our new rustic bronze finish, available on a selection of our forged steel products, includes pulls, cabinet knobs, and small hinges.

We provide a wonderful selection of hardware for both period homes, conversions and developments. Regardless of style or material, all our products are produced and finished to the highest standard and where possible are made in the UK. We use a small number of carefully selected foundries to ensure quality and attention to detail.

Our collection of restoration hardware includes authentic wrought iron suffolk latches, knockers & centre knobs, letterplates and door bells, fingerplates & escutcheons, rimlocks, latches & bolts, window catches, lifts and stays, shutter catches, hooks and hard to find sundries such as spare keeps & picture hooks, rose head nails and hand forged hinges.

Brassware
We only sell good quality unlaquered brass. We prefer it this way as it has a natural appearence and one can indulge in the luxury of polishing once in a while to a satisfying shine (or leave to age gracefully with time - 'tarnish'). Solid brass will not rust. Brasso and elbow grease are all that is required to clean.

Nickel
The popularity of our nickel plated brass ('silver' in colour) has grown dramatically over the past year. It appears more and more of us are keen to reinstate period styled products onto period properties but incorporating a very contemporary highly polished finish.

Ironmongery
Iron fittings, whether wrought, cast or forged, provide an authentic look for the country house or humble cottage.
A range of beeswaxed steel fittings almost black in appearence requires occaisonal beeswax polish to prevent from rusting whilst the anti-corrosion 'Patine' finish to the same range of products has the appearence of polished iron (requiring no maintenence). The vast majority of our forged steel is made in the UK. No two pieces are exactly the same - their differences and blemishes are part of their intrinsic charm.

Rust
A small selection is available with a harming 'rust' finish which has been allowed to rust and then laquered to halt the process!

Enamelware
We import beautiful traditional enamel blue and white house number plaques from France. Identical to those you'll find on almost all French buildings. We stock numbers from '1' to '100'.
