Willow and Stone FAQ's

Q. Do you ship to the USA and if so, what's the delivery charge?

A. Naturally, cost of shipping abroad is dependent on what you intend to buy. Email a list of what youre after and we'll weigh it all and get you a quote so that you can make your mind up before you commit. Prices vary considerably. We usually use Air Mail and an order weighing a kilo will cost around £10 (less if going to Europe). We can send a French enamel sign to Australia for the same price as sending it here in the UK!! so its always worth checking.

Q. If I buy something that doesn't look quite right once I receive it, can I return it?

A. Of course! All we ask is that you give us a call before hand, then send it back in it's orginal condition and packaging. Once we receive it, you'll receive a refund, simple!(Please note: We can't refund postage costs)

Q. How quickly do you post orders out on the standard delivery rate?

A. On a quiet day we'll post it more or less immediately. However, we've been exceptionally busy of late, so goods usually get posted a couple of days after receiving the order meaning you'll receive it well within a week. We have a £10 NEXT DAY service if you are in a hurry. If the item is out of stock, we will email you to let you know expected delivery times.

Q.I often think I should only buy items that are solid brass without laquer as the laquered brass looks inferior and 'yellow'.

A.Laquer is simply a coating that means that you dont need to polish your brass. The laquer can eventually flake though leaving you with a nasty part shiny, part tarnish look. Much cheap mass produced brass is indeed laquered so that it doesnt tarnish whilst on the shelves of the store selling it. Generally cheap brass is yellower than old brass which in turn often has a lovely rose colour due to it's higher copper content.

Most of what we sell at Willow & Stone is unlaquered. That's because we think brass should age gracefully. It also gives you the choice. A few items such as stair rods are laquered as cleaning them could result in staining to the carpet. Ultimately it depends on the look you want to acheive and whether you have the time and will power to get the brasso out once or twice a month. All Willow & Stone products are good quality brass, with or without laquer!
